The Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) programme was established under Ghana's Growth and Poverty Reduction Strategy II (GPRS II). It provides cash grants to extremely poor and vulnerable households to help them meet their basic needs and build their capacity for self-reliance.
Since its first disbursement in March 2008 to 1,654 pilot households across 21 districts, LEAP has grown to serve over 1.4 million individuals across all 216 Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies in Ghana.

Extremely poor households with pregnant women or nursing mothers (0โ18 months) qualify for LEAP support.
